INTRODUCTION

Promat® SBR Bonding Latex forms part of the PROMASPRAY® C450 and PROMASPRAY® F5 passive fire protection system and is designed for application to primed steel or concrete substrates.

After mixing with PROMASPRAY® F5, Promat® SBR Bonding Latex forms a tough, textured, strongly adhering mechanical keycoat. Once the mixture has cured, neat PROMASPRAY® C450 or PROMASPRAY® F5 can be applied over it.

PREPARATION


Typical substrates Please contact Promat Technical Department to confirm compatibility of the primer with Promat® SBR Bonding Latex.
Substrate preparation The substrate shall be clean, dry and free from visible moisture (including condensation), dust, loose millscale, loose rust, oil and any other condition preventing good adhesion.

APPLICATION


Methods Add 1 volume of water to 1 volume of Promat® SBR Bonding Latex. Add 20kg of PROMASPRAY® F5 to 17kg of diluted Promat® SBR Bonding La- tex and mix for 3 minutes.
Apply with a rotor/stator type spray machine, or for small areas a gravity fed hopper gun, to give 20-50% coverage of substrate.
Limitations             
Promat® SBR Bonding Latex may be applied when the substrate and air temperatures are at least 2°C and rising. Maximum substrate and air temperature is 45°C.
Substrate temperature should be at least 2°C above dew point temperature. Application should not take place if the temperature is 4°C and falling.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Adequate ventilation must be provided during use. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes by using eye protection, gloves, barrier cream and a face mask.

If the product comes into contact with the skin, wash immediately with soap and water. If the eyes are affected, flush with plenty of water and seek medical attention immediately.
